Using DPM (Data Protection Manager) an administrator is able to create a Recovery Point directly on Backup Vault/Microsoft Azure, and that is going to be the process that we are going over in this Tutorial.
Solution
We are going to use Microsoft Exchange workload and we will be creating a recovery point of a mailbox database in this Tutorial. Bear in mind that Exchange workload is supported only after the Cumulative Update 5 for System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2.
In order to create a Recovery Point in Azure, open DPM Administrator Console, click on Protection, expand the desired Protection Group and right-click on the Mailbox Database. Then, click on Create Recovery point…
Note: A Recovery Point is created per mailbox database and not per server.
In the new window, make sure to select Online Protection, and click OK. Just wait the replica to be created and after that it will be available for restore.
